In 2021, two St. Stithians students ran a tutoring initiative and saw the exact moment learners gave up. Four years later, they built the platform they wished had existed.
In 2021, during their matric year at St. Stithians Boys' College, Tyrone Kasi and Zarret Mills co-managed the tutoring initiative for Mountstephens boarding house. Together, they tutored younger students in STEM subjects and organised other matrics to cover subjects they didn't take.
They witnessed firsthand what happens when a teacher has to manage 25 boys in a 45-minute period. They saw the moment students gave up—not because they lacked potential, but because no one could identify why they were struggling before the next concept was introduced.
A test comes back: "Michael got 45%." But which of the hundreds of mathematical concepts is he missing? Which foundational gap from Grade 9 is blocking his Grade 11 calculus? Teachers simply don't have the time to diagnose this for every student. Even at elite schools, parents pay R400+ per hour for private tutors, and the school sees zero data from those sessions.
Years later, they built the platform they wished they had when running that programme. One platform. One profile. Complete visibility. StudiBuddi launched in 2025—teachers finally see not just that students fail, but exactly why—and can act on it.

Founder & Technical Lead
Tyrone is the architect behind StudiBuddi's knowledge graph engine. His mathematical background and technical skills drive the platform's ability to trace exactly why students fail.

Co-Founder & Sales
Zarret leads school partnerships and go-to-market strategy. Upon graduating from Harvard in 2026, he will return to South Africa full-time to drive adoption across schools.
We save teachers hours, not add to their workload. Assessment generation, automatic analytics, zero data entry. Educators see the insight; the system handles the complexity.
Every answer verified by Wolfram's computational engine. Zero LLM hallucination. When we say a solution is correct, it is mathematically proven—not guessed.
Built by South Africans, for South African schools. CAPS-aligned from the ground up. We understand the curriculum, the context, and the constraints our schools face.
